First Annual War Bird Fly-in Yukon, Oklahoma May 05 The following are pictures from this event. Several folks turned out with their war birds of all sizes and eras. The good folks of the Yukon club hosted an excellent event, well organized, good food, and a raffle of another war bird highlighted the day. Several of SPADS members attended to fly or watch the action. There was a few crashes but overall it was a very good day for the airplanes. Most went home intact as they came. As expected P-51s of all sizes were very plentiful. Bill Holland & Phil Hempfling flew their show routine with their 51s, again they were very impressive. The show stopper of the day had to be Kenny Howton's big C-130. Everyone stopped what they were doing to watch the big white Hurky Bird in the air. As hard as I tried, I wasn't able to make a flight on my 130 before the event so I could not fly it . The two C-130s did receive a lot of attention from the spectators and other flyers, I wish we could have made a formation flight with them. I don't have many flying shots, it is very hard to get a good shot with my camera.' |
